Herringbone floor from bare concrete to finished

We check the subfloor, measure moisture and level it where needed. The parquet sits in the room for a few days before we start, so it has taken up the moisture in the air and will not move after laying.

Then the pieces are glued down, one at a time, from a centre line in each room. It takes longer at the start, and it is the reason the pattern sits square to the walls you actually look at when you come in.

The before and after slider here was taken the same day, five hours apart: on the left the floor is freshly sanded and dry, on the right it has been lacquered. That is the difference people rarely get to see, because they come back to a finished floor.
