Weathered pine floor back in use

The floor had greyed the way untreated pine does, and was patchy after years of sun and use. The grey sits only in the top layer, and underneath the timber is as light as the day it was laid.

The photo of the machine in the middle of the room explains the job better than anything: to the left of it the floor is grey, to the right it is light. The millimetre between them is the whole of the work.
Grey pine is not rot. It is sunlight that has broken down the surface, and it comes off in the first pass. We put on three coats of matt lacquer, which holds back the yellowing pine otherwise picks up over the years.
