Pine floor sanded back to light timber
Floor sanding · 2026
The living room floor was dark with old stain and decades of wear. Two days of sanding took it back to fresh pine, without a single board being replaced.

The floor had been stained dark some time in the nineties, and the lacquer had given up in the traffic lane through the middle of the room. Underneath were thick, old pine boards that had barely been touched since the house was built.
We started coarse to get through the stain, then worked down step by step to a fine grit. Edges and corners were done by hand. What looks like a new floor in the after photo is the same boards that were there before.
